Crispy Chicken Tenders with Dipping Sauce

📝 Ingredients

For Chicken Tenders:

  • 500 g (1 lb) chicken breast, cut into strips

  • 1 cup buttermilk (or ½ cup yogurt + ½ cup milk)

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp onion powder

  • 1 tsp paprika

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • 1 tsp salt

For Coating:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (panko for extra crunch)

  • ½ cup cornstarch

  • 1 tsp paprika

  • ½ tsp cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 2 eggs, beaten

For Frying:

  • Oil for deep frying (vegetable or canola)

Dipping Sauce (Honey Mustard Style):

  • 3 tbsp mayonnaise

  • 2 tbsp honey

  • 2 tbsp Dijon mustard (or regular mustard)

  • 1 tsp lemon juice


👩‍🍳 Instructions

Step 1: Marinate Chicken

  1. In a bowl, mix buttermilk, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.

  2. Add chicken strips, coat well, cover, and marinate for at least 1 hour (overnight is best).

Step 2: Prepare Coating

  1. In one bowl, whisk the eggs.

  2. In another bowl, mix flour, breadcrumbs, cornstarch, paprika, cayenne, and salt.

Step 3: Coat the Chicken

  1. Remove chicken from marinade.

  2. Dip each strip into flour mixture → egg wash → flour mixture again (double coating makes them extra crispy).

Step 4: Fry

  1. Heat oil in a deep pan to 175°C (350°F).

  2. Fry chicken strips in batches for 5–6 minutes, until golden brown and fully cooked inside.

  3. Place on paper towels to drain excess oil.

Step 5: Make Dipping Sauce

  1. Mix mayonnaise, honey, mustard, and lemon juice in a small bowl.

  2. Chill until ready to serve.

  • Pair with fries, salad, or coleslaw for a complete meal.
