🐟 Mediterranean Bang Bang Salmon

🧂 Ingredients (Serves 2–3)

For the Salmon

  • 2 salmon fillets (about 180–200 g each)

  • 1½ tbsp extra-virgin olive oil

  • ½ tsp salt

  • ¼ tsp black pepper

  • ½ tsp paprika

  • ½ tsp dried oregano

  • 1 clove garlic, minced (optional but great flavor)

  • ½ lemon (zest + juice)

For the Bang Bang Sauce (Mediterranean twist)

  • 3 tbsp mayonnaise or Greek yogurt (for lighter, tangier flavor)

  • 2 tbsp sweet chili sauce

  • 1 tbsp Sriracha (adjust to your spice level)

  • 1 tsp honey or maple syrup (balances the heat)

  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice

  • 1 tsp olive oil (gives it a Mediterranean smoothness)

  • 1 tbsp finely chopped fresh dill or parsley

For Serving

  • Lemon wedges

  • Fresh parsley or dill for garnish

  • Optional sides:

    • Mediterranean salad (tomatoes, cucumber, red onion, olives, feta, olive oil, lemon)

    • Couscous, quinoa, or herbed rice

    • Tzatziki or garlicky yogurt sauce

🔥 Instructions

1. Prepare the Salmon

  1. Preheat oven to 200 °C (400 °F).

  2. Pat salmon dry with paper towels.

  3. In a small bowl, mix olive oil, salt, pepper, oregano, paprika, and garlic.

  4. Rub this mixture evenly over the salmon.

  5. Place salmon on a parchment-lined baking tray or oven-safe skillet.

2. Bake the Salmon

  • Bake for 10–12 minutes (depending on thickness), or until the fish flakes easily with a fork.

  • For a crisp top, broil for an additional 1–2 minutes at the end.

3. Make the Mediterranean Bang Bang Sauce

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together:
mayonnaise (or Greek yogurt), sweet chili sauce, Sriracha, honey, lemon juice, olive oil, and dill/parsley.

  2. Taste and adjust — add more lemon for tang or more chili sauce for sweetness.

4. Sauce It Up

  • Once the salmon is done, spoon or brush the sauce generously over each fillet while still warm.

  • Optionally, reserve some sauce for dipping.

5. Serve

  • Serve salmon over couscous, quinoa, or a simple Mediterranean salad.

  • Drizzle with a little olive oil and top with extra herbs and a squeeze of lemon.

🌿 Chef’s Tips

  • Air Fryer Version: Cook salmon at 190 °C (375 °F) for 8–10 min; sauce after cooking.

  • Pan-Seared Version: Sear salmon in olive oil (skin-side down first) 4 min per side; coat with sauce after.

  • Meal Prep Friendly: Keep sauce separate and drizzle before serving for best texture.
