🧺 Ingredients

  • 3–4 medium sweet potatoes, peeled and sliced into ½-inch thick rounds

  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter (or olive oil for Mediterranean twist)

  • ¼ cup brown sugar (or coconut sugar for a cleaner version)

  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

  • Pinch of sea salt

  • Optional Mediterranean touches:

    • 1–2 tsp orange zest

    • 2 tbsp chopped walnuts or pistachios for topping

    • Drizzle of honey after baking


🔥 Instructions

  1. Preheat oven
    Preheat to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a baking dish.

  2. Arrange sweet potatoes
    Place the thick sweet potato slices snugly in the dish, slightly overlapping.

  3. Prepare glaze
    In a small saucepan over low heat, melt butter. Stir in brown sugar, cinnamon, vanilla, salt, and optional orange zest until smooth and silky.

  4. Coat potatoes
    Pour the mixture evenly over the sweet potatoes, ensuring each slice is coated and the sauce seeps between them.

  5. Bake covered
    Cover with foil and bake 25–30 minutes until potatoes are tender when pierced with a fork.

  6. Caramelize
    Remove foil. Bake an additional 10–15 minutes uncovered until sauce thickens into a glossy caramel glaze and edges turn golden.

  7. Finish & serve
    Sprinkle with chopped walnuts or pistachios if desired. Drizzle with honey for extra sweetness. Serve warm.
