🥙 Mediterranean Chicken Gyro Pita

✅ Ingredients

For the Chicken

  • 500 g (1 lb) chicken thighs or breasts, thinly sliced

  • 3 tablespoons Greek yogurt

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • Juice of 1 lemon

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano

  • 1 teaspoon paprika

  • ½ teaspoon cumin

  • Salt & black pepper, to taste

For the Tzatziki Sauce

  • 1 cup Greek yogurt

  • ½ cucumber, grated & squeezed dry

  • 1 clove garlic, minced

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

  • Salt, to taste

For Serving

  • Pita bread

  • Sliced tomatoes

  • Sliced red onion

  • Lettuce or parsley

  • Optional: feta cheese


👩‍🍳 Instructions

  1. Marinate Chicken
    Mix yogurt, olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, oregano, paprika, cumin, salt, and pepper.
    Add chicken, coat well, and marinate at least 30 minutes (overnight best).

  2. Cook Chicken
    Heat a pan or grill over medium-high heat.
    Cook chicken 4–5 minutes per side until golden and cooked through.

  3. Make Tzatziki
    Combine yogurt, cucumber, garlic, olive oil, lemon juice, and salt. Chill until ready.

  4. Assemble Gyros
    Warm pita bread.
    Add chicken, tomatoes, onion, lettuce, and a generous spoon of tzatziki.
    Sprinkle feta if using.
