Mediterranean Apples & Cocoa (Healthy 4-Ingredient Dessert!)

A warm, chocolaty, naturally sweet recipe inspired by Mediterranean whole-food desserts. Perfect for weight-loss friendly snacking!


Ingredients

  • 2 medium apples, peeled and chopped

  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder (unsweetened)

  • 1 tablespoon honey or 2 dates blended (optional but Mediterranean!)

  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon

  • ⅓ cup water

  • Optional add-ins:

    • 1 tablespoon olive oil (Mediterranean richness)

    • 1 tablespoon walnuts or almonds, chopped

    • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds or tahini on top


Instructions

  1. Prepare the apples:
    Peel and chop apples into small cubes for faster cooking.

  2. Cook:
    Add apples, water, cinnamon, and cocoa powder to a small pan.
    Cook over medium heat for 8–10 minutes, stirring until apples soften.

  3. Sweeten (optional):
    Add honey or blended dates and stir until everything is glossy and chocolatey.

  4. Mash or leave chunky:

    • Mash for a pudding-like texture

    • Or leave in soft chunks like a warm dessert bowl

  5. Finish Mediterranean-style:
    Drizzle 1 tsp olive oil or tahini, then top with nuts.


Serve With

  • Greek yogurt

  • Warm oats

  • Cottage cheese

  • Over toast

  • Or eat warm as a dessert bowl!
