Cheesy Roasted Cabbage Steaks

Ingredients:

  • 1 medium green cabbage

  • 2–3 tbsp olive oil or melted butter

  • 2 tbsp mustard or any preferred sauce (e.g., garlic mayo, tahini, etc.)

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp smoked paprika (optional)

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • Grated cheese (e.g., mozzarella, cheddar, or a mix)

  • Chopped chili or red pepper (optional, for a spicy kick)

🔪 Instructions:

1. Prepare the Cabbage:

  • Slice the cabbage into thick steaks (about 1 to 1.5 inches thick).

  • Lay them flat on a greased or lined baking tray.

2. Make the Sauce:

  • In a bowl, mix olive oil or melted butter with mustard, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.

3. Brush the Cabbage:

  • Use a brush to generously coat each cabbage slice with the sauce mixture on both sides.

4. Roast the Cabbage:

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

  • Roast for 20–25 minutes, or until the cabbage edges are crispy and the centers are tender.

5. Add Cheese:

  • Remove from oven, sprinkle grated cheese over each cabbage steak.

  • Add optional chopped chili or red pepper for heat and color.

6. Bake Again:

  • Return to oven and bake for an additional 5–7 minutes, or until cheese is melted and bubbly.
