🐟 Garlic Butter Cod Strips with Cilantro Lime Sauce

Ingredients

For the Cod Strips

  • 500 g cod fillets, cut into strips

  • 2 tbsp olive oil

  • 2 tbsp butter

  • 4 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tsp paprika

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • ½ tsp cumin (Mediterranean depth)

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • Salt to taste

  • Zest of 1 lime

  • Juice of ½ lime


For the Cilantro Lime Sauce

  • ½ cup Greek yogurt (or light mayonnaise)

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • 1 small garlic clove, grated

  • ¼ cup cilantro, finely chopped

  • Juice of 1 lime

  • ½ tsp honey (balances acidity)

  • Salt & pepper to taste


For Garnish

  • Extra cilantro

  • Lime wedges

  • Drizzle of olive oil


Instructions

1. Prep the cod

Pat cod strips dry very well (important for browning).
Season with:

  • paprika

  • garlic powder

  • cumin

  • black pepper

  • salt

  • lime zest

Set aside.


2. Make the Cilantro Lime Sauce

In a bowl, whisk together:

  • Greek yogurt

  • olive oil

  • garlic

  • cilantro

  • lime juice

  • honey

  • salt & pepper

Refrigerate so the flavors deepen.


3. Cook the Cod Strips

  1. Heat 2 tbsp olive oil in a pan over medium-high.

  2. Add cod strips (do not overcrowd).

  3. Sear 2–3 minutes per side until lightly golden.

  4. Lower heat → add 2 tbsp butter + minced garlic.

  5. Spoon the garlic butter over the cod as it finishes cooking.

  6. Add a squeeze of lime at the end.

Cod should stay tender and flaky.


4. Serve

Plate the cod strips and drizzle generously with cilantro lime sauce.
Finish with:

  • extra cilantro

  • lime wedges

  • a small drizzle of good-quality olive oil
