⭐ Ingredients
For the dough
-
4 cups (480g) all-purpose flour
-
1 cup (220g) plain yogurt (Greek or regular)
-
1 cup (200ml) water
-
1 packet (10g) baking powder
-
1 teaspoon (8g) salt
-
1 tablespoon (10ml) vegetable oil or olive oil
Optional Mediterranean additions
-
1 tbsp olive oil + 1 clove garlic (for brushing)
-
Fresh herbs (oregano, parsley, thyme)
-
A sprinkle of sesame or nigella seeds
🍽️ Instructions
1️⃣ Make the dough
-
In a large bowl, add flour, salt, and baking powder.
-
Add yogurt, water, and oil.
-
Mix with a spoon, then knead by hand for 2–3 minutes
→ The dough should be soft, smooth, and slightly sticky.
(If too dry, add 1–2 tbsp water. If too sticky, sprinkle a little flour.)
2️⃣ Rest (optional but helpful)
Let the dough rest 5 minutes — this makes the flatbreads softer.
3️⃣ Shape the flatbreads
-
Divide dough into 10–12 equal balls.
-
Roll each ball into a thin circle (about 7–8 inches).
4️⃣ Cook on the stovetop
-
Heat a nonstick skillet over medium–high heat.
-
Place one flatbread into the dry pan.
-
Cook 1–2 minutes until bubbles form and golden spots appear.
-
Flip and cook 1 more minute.
-
Brush with olive oil or garlic butter if desired.
Repeat for all flatbreads.
5️⃣ Serve
These are amazing with:
