For the cabbage cups:

  • 1 large green cabbage
  • Salted water (for boiling)

For the filling:

  • 1 lb (450g) ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ cup cooked rice (optional, or skip for low-carb)
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp cumin
  • Salt & black pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp chopped parsley

For the sauce:

  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • ½ tsp oregano
  • ½ tsp sugar (optional)

Topping:

  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese

  1. Prepare cabbage
    Boil whole cabbage in salted water for a few minutes until leaves soften.
    Carefully peel off large leaves and trim thick stems.
  2. Make the filling
    In a bowl, mix ground beef, onion, garlic, rice (if using), spices, and parsley.
  3. Form cups
    Press cabbage leaves into a muffin tin to create cup shapes.
  4. Fill them
    Add the beef mixture into each cabbage cup.
