🛒 Ingredients

Casserole Base

  • 1 lb (450 g) lean ground chicken or beef

  • 2 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil

  • 1 small onion, finely chopped

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tsp ground cumin

  • 1 tsp smoked paprika

  • 1 tsp ground coriander

  • ½ tsp dried oregano

  • ½ tsp chili powder (optional)

  • Salt & black pepper to taste

  • 1 can chickpeas or black beans, drained & rinsed

  • ½ cup shredded mozzarella or mild feta

  • Juice of ½ lemon

Topping

  • ½ cup shredded cheese (mozzarella or cheddar-style)

  • Fresh parsley or cilantro, chopped

  1. Preheat Oven
    Preheat to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a baking dish with olive oil.

  2. Cook the Filling
    Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
    Sauté onion for 3–4 minutes until soft. Add garlic and cook 30 seconds.

  3. Brown the Meat
