🌀 Mediterranean Twisted Stuffed Puff Pastry Rolls
⭐ Overview
Golden puff pastry twisted around a savory Mediterranean filling made with feta, spinach, herbs, olives, and sun-dried tomatoes. Crispy on the outside, soft and flavorful inside.
🧾 Ingredients (makes 8–10 twists)
For the pastry

1 sheet puff pastry (thawed in the fridge)

1 egg (for egg wash)
Mediterranean filling
Choose your mix—here’s a classic blend:

1 cup baby spinach, finely chopped
-
½ cup crumbled feta
-
¼ cup shredded mozzarella or halloumi
-
2–3 sun-dried tomatoes, finely chopped
-
6–8 pitted olives, chopped (Kalamata preferred)
-
1 small garlic clove, minced
-
1 tbsp olive oil
-
½ tsp dried oregano
-
½ tsp paprika
-
Black pepper to taste
Optional additions
-
1–2 tbsp chopped basil or parsley
-
A pinch of chili flakes
-
1–2 tbsp ricotta for extra creaminess
🍳 Instructions
1. Prepare the filling

In a bowl, mix spinach, feta, mozzarella, olives, sun-dried tomatoes, garlic, olive oil, oregano, paprika, and pepper.

Combine well.

If too dry → add 1 tbsp olive oil or a spoon of ricotta.

If too wet → add a pinch of breadcrumbs.

2. Prepare the puff pastry

Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).

Lightly flour a surface and lay out the pastry.

Roll gently to even thickness (if needed).

Cut the sheet into rectangles (about 2–3 inches wide and 6–7 inches long).
3. Fill & twist
For each pastry rectangle:

Place a line of filling down the center.
-
Fold the pastry over lengthwise to enclose the filling.

Seal the edge by pinching or pressing with a fork.

Slice each filled strip in half lengthwise without cutting all the way through at the top.

Twist the two strands around each other so the filling shows through.
(Easier version: Just twist the filled strip without slicing—also delicious.)

Place on a baking tray lined with parchment.
4. Egg wash & bake

Brush each twist with beaten egg.

Bake 18–22 minutes, until deeply golden and puffed.
