Ingredients
1 medium onion thinly sliced
1 pound lean flank steak cut into 8 thin slices
2 teaspoon reduced sodium Worcestershire
salt to taste
ground black pepper to taste
4 reduced calorie hot dog bun
¼ cup shredded reduced-fat Mexican cheese blend
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350° F
Spray a large nonstick skillet with olive oil spray and place it over medium-high heat.
Once the pan is hot, add the onion and cook until it’s tender and golden brown, which should take about 10 minutes.
Remove the onion from the skillet and set it aside.
Add the steak to the skillet and cook it until it’s browned and fully cooked, which will take about 1 to 2 minutes on each side.
Pour Worcestershire sauce over the steak and season with salt and pepper. Cook until the liquid has been absorbed.
Place the steak evenly on the buns, then top with the cooked onion and cheese.
Wrap each bun with steak, onion, and cheese in foil.
Place the wrapped buns in the oven and bake until the cheese melts, about 5 to 7 minutes.
