Ingredients:
- 1 sheet of puff pastry (thawed if frozen)
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 cup shredded cheese (such as mozzarella or cheddar)
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley (chopped, or 1 tablespoon dried)
- 1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)
- Salt and pepper (to taste)
Instructions:
- Preheat Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Prepare the Puff Pastry:
- Unroll the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface.
- Spread Tomato Paste:
- Evenly spread the tomato paste over the puff pastry, leaving a small border around the edges.
- Add Cheese and Parsley:
- Sprinkle the shredded cheese evenly over the tomato paste.
- Sprinkle the chopped parsley on top of the cheese.
- Season with a little salt and pepper if desired.
- Form the Spirals:
- Starting from one edge, carefully roll the puff pastry sheet into a tight log or cylinder.
- Slice the rolled pastry into approximately 1-inch wide pieces to form spirals.
- Prepare for Baking:
- Place the spiral pieces cut-side up on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Brush the tops with the beaten egg to give them a golden color when baked.
- Bake:
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the spirals are golden brown and crispy.
- Cool and Serve:
- Allow the spirals to cool slightly before serving.
