Easy Air Fryer Roasted Chickpeas

A crunchy, protein-packed snack that’s perfect for when you’re craving something salty but want a healthier option. I usually keep a can of chickpeas in the pantry specifically for this recipe because it’s quick, affordable, and surprisingly satisfying.

Ingredients

  • 1 (15-ounce) can chickpeas, drained and rinsed
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Drain and rinse the chickpeas.
  2. Pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
  3. Place the chickpeas in the air fryer basket and cook at 390°F (200°C) for 2 minutes to help dry them further.
  4. Remove and toss with olive oil and seasonings.
  5. Return to the air fryer and cook at 390°F for 12–15 minutes, shaking the basket every 4–5 minutes.
  6. Continue cooking until they are golden brown and crispy.
  7. Let them cool for a few minutes—they’ll become even crunchier as they cool.

Flavor Ideas

  • Ranch: Ranch seasoning blend
  • Spicy: Cayenne pepper and chili powder
  • BBQ: Smoked paprika, garlic powder, and brown sugar
  • Everything Bagel: Everything bagel seasoning
  • Sweet Cinnamon: Cinnamon and a touch of maple sugar

Why They’re a Great Healthy Snack

  • High in plant-based protein
  • Good source of fiber
  • Naturally gluten-free
  • More filling than chips or crackers
  • Easy to customize with different seasonings

One extra tip: if you want maximum crunch, remove any loose skins from the chickpeas after drying them. It takes a minute or two, but the texture is often even crispier afterward.
