🍞 Mediterranean Homemade Bread

Soft, fluffy, aromatic — perfect with olive oil, soups, dips, or sandwiches.


🟡 INGREDIENTS (1 loaf)

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour (or ½ whole wheat + ½ all-purpose)

  • 1 tablespoon sugar or honey

  • 2 teaspoons instant yeast

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 3 tablespoons olive oil (extra virgin preferred)

  • 1 cup warm water (not hot)

  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano (optional)

  • 1 teaspoon dried rosemary or thyme (optional)


🟢 INSTRUCTIONS

1. Activate Dough

In a bowl combine:

  • Warm water

  • Sugar/honey

  • Yeast

Let sit 5 minutes (until foamy).


2. Make the Dough

Add:

  • Flour

  • Salt

  • Olive oil

  • Herbs

Mix until dough comes together.

Knead 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic
(by hand or mixer).


3. First Rise

Place dough in an oiled bowl.
Cover and let rise 1 hour or until doubled.


4. Shape

Punch down dough.
Shape into a round or oval loaf.
Place on parchment-lined baking tray.


5. Second Rise

Cover again and let rise 20–25 minutes.

(Optional) Brush with:

  • olive oil

  • sprinkle sesame seeds or oregano


6. Bake

Bake at 200°C (400°F) for 22–28 minutes
until golden brown and hollow-sounding when tapped.


7. Cool

Let cool 15 minutes before slicing.
