Ham and Cheese Sticks delicious

Ingredients

  • 1 sheet of puff pastry thawed
  • 6 oz sliced ham deli ham or any preferred variety
  • 6 oz shredded cheese cheddar, Swiss, or your choice
  • 1 egg for egg wash
  • 1 tablespoon mustard optional
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Sesame seeds or poppy seeds optional, for topping

Instructions

  • Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Prepare the Puff Pastry: Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface to smooth it out. Cut the pastry into strips (about 1 inch wide and 6 inches long).
  • Layer Ingredients: If using, spread a thin layer of mustard on each strip of puff pastry. Place a slice of ham and a sprinkle of cheese on one end of each strip.
  • Roll the Sticks: Starting from the ham and cheese end, roll the pastry strip up tightly to form a stick. Place the rolled sticks seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
  • Add Egg Wash: In a small bowl, beat the egg and brush it over the tops of the sticks. If desired, sprinkle sesame seeds or poppy seeds on top for added texture.
  • Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the sticks are golden brown and puffed.
  • Cool and Serve: Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm!
